THE TEACHER BEHIND SMART SCHOLARS
Hey there! I´m glad you´re here
Hey teacher friends! My name is Sabah Hassan the founder and teacher behind Smart Scholars Education.
I help teachers and parents master project-based learning, engage learners with educational games and teach digital skills for the 21st Century.
If you want help with any of these then come and hang out with me. Let’s be friends!
I’m excited you’re here…let me give you a little peek into my teaching and life journey.
My Journey to Education
Here’s how I landed in the classroom—it’s been quite the ride! I made a bold career shift, swapping spreadsheets for lesson plans after years of running a family business.
It all started when my youngest daughter faced challenges in school. As I helped her navigate her learning journey, it reignited my love for teaching, even more than my days crunching numbers as an accountant.
So, I dipped my toes in to teaching by volunteering at local schools as a teaching assistant.
I finally took the chance to pursue a career I was truly passionate about. And let me tell you, it’s been such a roller coaster ride with challenges but those precious aha moments make it worthwhile!
When I finally stepped into my own classroom it felt natural, we teach to build skills that matter in the real world.
But back then, this philosophy was just emerging through the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) and resources were hard to come by. So, I rolled up my sleeves and created what I couldn’t find.
It was a struggle meeting the demands of the CfE. Staying up until 2am was the norm for me, creating everything from scratch. Rinse and repeat every night.
Thankfully, I didn’t give up! Since then I have taught mainly Primary 5, 6 and 7 and built up a bank of resources to make your teacher’s heart happy.
Credentials and Education
My educational journey began somewhat traditionally with a BA (Hons) in Accountancy and Finance from Glasgow Caledonian University.
But, as life would have it, my passion for teaching soon took the front seat.
This led me to the University of Glasgow where I recieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education (with Teaching Certificate) diving deep into how creative and engaging classrooms can significantly boost learning.
My Educational Philosophy
Here’s what I believe: learning shouldn’t just be about memorizing facts. It should be engaging and relevant.
That’s why I champion project-based learning. It blends 21st-century skills with digital literacy and interactive educational games, turning classrooms into vibrant learning hubs.
I think that when our classrooms buzz with interaction and real-world challenges, we’re not just teaching—we’re preparing students to thrive in a digital future.
How I Serve in Education Today
As the CEO at Smart Scholars Education, I’ve shifted from classroom teaching to leading exciting projects that have impact.
I create interdisciplinary curriculum and deliver professional development for educators in upper primary (P 5-7) in Scotland aswell as providing standards aligned curriculum for upper elementary in the US.
Right now, I’m leading a training course dedicated to Project-Based Learning (PBL). It’s designed not just to educate but to truly inspire educators both here in Scotland and around the globe.
I’m also working on a new platform that’s all about making it easy for teachers to bring PBL and interdisciplinary projects into every classroom.
This platform will be a game-changer, with resources to help you save time, and get the best outcomes for all your learners.
While I miss the daily classroom interactions, I’m excited to support teachers in this new capacity.
I absolutely love this work—it’s challenging, sure, but incredibly rewarding. Here’s to making learning both fun and impactful for everyone involved!
